Center Readers

One of the key experiences a child needs to become a reader is to observe adults reading. Children are imitators; they need to see how someone who enjoys reading goes about the process. Parents in waiting rooms and child care teachers in classrooms benefit from observing the interplay that exists between a good reader and their listeners. Modeling reading skill building and vocabulary building provide an opportunity for transfer. R4R sends Volunteer Readers across the community to demonstrate the joy of sharing books with primarily one to five year olds.
